Why confine yourself to chicken or steak when the barbecue is smoking? Use the heated grates to cook some okra. This is a simple summer side dish that goes well with a wide variety of main dishes, particularly grilled meats. The finest aspect? Okra becomes a deliciously smokey treat with just 5 minutes of preparation and 10 minutes of grilling!
Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 lb. fresh okra pods
- 2 Tbsp. olive oil
- 1 tsp. lemon pepper seasoning
- 1 tsp. seasoned salt
- Lemon wedges, for serving
Instructions:
Step No.01
Cut off the okra pods’ stem ends.
Step No.02
The okra, oil, lemon pepper, and seasoned salt should all be combined in a big bowl.
Step No.03
Regarding the grill: Heat a grill to high temperature (450°F to 500°F) using gas or charcoal. Directly place the okra onto the grill grates. Cook until grill marks appear, 3 to 5 minutes. With a pair of tongs, turn the okra and continue cooking for another three to five minutes, or until it is soft and completely scorched on the other side.
Step No.04
Cooking in a grill pan is an alternative. Preheat a sizable grill pan over medium-high heat. Layer the okra on top of each other. Cook until grill marks appear, 3 to 5 minutes. With a pair of tongs, turn the okra and continue cooking for another three to five minutes, or until it is soft and completely scorched on the other side.
Step No.05
Serve right away with wedges of lemon.
